Ithaca is real and it’s a 30 minute ferry from Sicily. I visited Favignana a couple of years ago, before the onset of the “Nolan effect” and this week I’m sharing my honest take on the island behind The Odyssey. ✨

The star is the Sfogliatella Santa Rosa — created in the 17th century by nuns at the Monastery of Santa Rosa in Conca dei Marini. Delicate layers of pastry filled with sweet ricotta or crema pasticcera, always crowned with black cherries. A true taste of Campania’s history.

And while mornings bring pastries and coffee, this bar is just as beautiful for a sunset aperitivo, when the coastline glows in golden light.
